CLINICARE's team includes:
Karim Kanji, MBA, CMA, President & CFOPrior to joining CLINICARE, over the course of 15 years, Karim had held several senior administrative positions with Siemens Canada, his last being VP Finance. He has also served on the board of VATech. Karim has developed a strong background in growth-oriented businesses, and is well versed in rapid market expansion as well as in merger and acquisition strategy.
Karim holds a Masters of Business Administration degree, an EMBA in Advanced Management from Duke University in North Carolina, and is an accredited member of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.
Dennis Niebergal, ICD.D, Founder & VP Industry Relations
In 1984, Dennis co-founded CLINICARE. He has been instrumental in the growth of the company ever since. Dennis continues to be a thought leader in the Canadian healthcare informatics marketplace and has dedicated over 25 years to building and promoting the value of Electronic Medical Records in Canada and internationally.
Dennis held a number of increasingly senior computer programming and management positions with several firms from 1976 to 1983. As manager of software development, and later general manager, of Mits Computer Systems Ltd., he was responsible for the development of the Medcis system, a medical clinic information system. Dennis served as President & CEO of CLINICARE from 1984 to 2008.
Dennis graduated from George Brown College, Toronto, in 1976 with an Honours Diploma, Business Administration, with a major in Computer Science, minor in Accounting. Dennis achieved his certification by the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2008.
Dr. William Haver, Board Member, Medical Advisor
Dr. William Haver is a family physician at Lakeside Medical Clinic in Saskatoon, SK and a member of the editorial board of Healthcare Information Management & Communications Canada magazine. Dr. Haver chairs CLINICARE's software steering committee and sits on CLINICARE's board of directors. Dr. Haver and his associates have been using CLINICARE's information technology in their medical practices since 1984.

Don Martin, Interim COO & VP Software Development
Don joined CLINICARE Corporation in 1999 and is responsible for the delivery of all software development projects.
Don has held a number of positions within the information technology sector, working in a variety of industries, including the provincial government sector, oil and gas, municipal government, small business, medical and more recently, telecommunications. His IT technical skills range from hands-on development in a variety of environments through project management up to Senior IT strategic planning. Don assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer on an interim basis in June of 2008. The COO is responsible for all of Operations (Client Services, Technical Services and Development). This new role was introduced so that the Operational Departments work more closely together and have a more coordinated effort as CLINICARE continues to grow and move forward.
Don graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with an Honor's diploma in Computing Science in 1972. In 1998, he completed his MBA from Queen's University.
John Fitzgibbon, VP Sales
John joined the CLINICARE team in 2007 and is responsible for all Sales in Canada and all Sales and Business Development activity in the United States.
John has played key roles in a number of positions within the healthcare information technology sector for organizations who achieved significant growth including Soft Computer Consultants (1992 - 1996) and Triple G Corporation (now a division of General Electric Healthcare, 1996 - 2005). In concert with business growth, John has been directly involved in business start-up and business integration via merger and acquisition.
John graduated from Stony Brook University School of Health Technology and Management, located on Long Island in New York, in 1991 with a Bachelors of Science degree and a professional certification in Clinical Laboratory Sciences. In 1999, John was a recipient of the School of Health Technology and Management 'Distinguished Alumni Award'.
Fred Hobday, C.A., Controller
Prior to joining CLINICARE, Fred was a self-employed professional, providing contract accounting services and teaching accounting part-time in the business department of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). Previously he was the Comptroller for a full service hotel; and before that was the Controller for an international franchiser of family restaurants.
Fred prepares all CLINICARE's financial statements, forecasts, capital budgets and tax reports, and manages the administration and liaison with company lawyers and accountants.
Fred graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.
Russ Pastorchik, Senior R&D Manager
Russ is responsible for the design and development of enhancements to the electronic medical records family of applications. His role is to anticipate the need for competitive features in relation to the industry, assist in sales presentations and in the preparation of collateral marketing material. In January 2007, Russ took on the additional responsibility of opening, staffing and leading the new R&D Office in Saskatoon.
Russ joined CLINICARE as a development programmer in 1991after graduating with a Diploma of Technology in the Expert Systems option of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Prior to becoming manager, Russ was the senior programmer/analyst for the Computerized Medical Records, Patient Registration and WordCare applications.
Deane Atkinson, Development Manager
Deane joined CLINICARE in 1994. As Development Manager, he works with the development programmers/analysts to continue the evolution of CLINICARE's products. He also manages our custom and funded development projects, especially with respect to electronic data interchange interfaces with medical laboratories and hospitals.
Deane graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) with a Diploma of Technology in the Business Computing option in May 1978. From BCIT, he joined MAI as a programmer and worked his way up to programming manager. After 2.5 years with MAI, Deane setup as an MAI subcontractor / business partner for the next 8 years. Subsequently, Deane operated as an independent software developer for 6 more years prior to joining CLINICARE.
Brent Mitchell, Marketing Manager
Prior to joining CLINICARE, Brent was president and founder of Medco Healthcare Products Inc. Medco has distributed a variety of home healthcare products to retail pharmacies and home healthcare stores in Western Canada since 1990.
Brent started his career in the pharmaceutical industry with Glaxo Canada Ltd. where he developed and implemented several strategic marketing plans for the promotion of pharmaceuticals and other medical products to healthcare professionals. Brent left Glaxo to become a principal in Media Advertising Ltd., a Toronto-based healthcare advertising agency. As Executive Vice-President, he directed strategic public relations and advertising campaigns for a number of multinational pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Brent graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry.
Ray Hineman, Support Manager
Ray joined CLINICARE in August of 2008. Ray’s background has been working in the Service Delivery field for a number of years. His ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Foundations Certification will be a large asset in helping to improve the Client Support team and moving it back into a Best-in-Class support organization.
Dale Erickson, Client Services Manager
Dale joined CLINICARE in late May, 2008. As the Client Services Manager, Dale brings his experience with structured business models and methodologies to CLINICARE. Using ITIL and Lean Six Sigma practices, along with a strong Service Delivery background, client problems now become challenges and continuous improvement opportunities.
Dale graduated from NAIT in 1988 with a degree in Computer Programming and Systems Analysis. This turned into a contract position with Pan Canadian Petroleum where he looked at a more technical role. Two years later and a degree in Telecommunications Management from Mount Royal College found Dale looking for a different role. This lead to Alberta Treasury Branches(ATB) where he spent 9 years in Computer Operations and Network Automation. In 1997, ATB outsourced their Networking to Systemouse and Dale joined them. Systemhouse was purchased by EDS Canada in May of 1999 where Dale spent a combined 11 years in a Service Delivery role, representing several multi-national companies.
